2、informationprocessingwithinitsmembercountriesandtoencouragetechnologytransfertodevelopingnations.Asitsmissionstatementclearlystates,IFIP’smissionistobetheleading,trulyinternational,apoliticalorganizationwhichencouragesandassistsinthedevelopment,exploitationandapplicationofinformatio

3、ntechnologyforthebenefitofallpeople.IFIPisanon-profitmakingorganization,runalmostsolelyby2500volunteers.Itoperatesthroughanumberoftechnicalcommittees,whichorganizeeventsandpublications.IFIP’seventsrangefromaninternationalcongresstolocalseminars,butthemostimportantare:TheIFIPWorldCom

4、puterCongress,heldeverysecondyear;Openconferences;Workingconferences.TheflagshipeventistheIFIPWorldComputerCongress,atwhichbothinvitedandcontributedpapersarepresented.Contributedpapersarerigorouslyrefereedandtherejectionrateishigh.AswiththeCongress,participationintheopenconferencesi

5、sopentoallandpapersmaybeinvitedorsubmitted.Again,submittedpapersarestringentlyrefereed.Theworkingconferencesarestructureddifferently.Theyareusuallyrunbyaworkinggroupandattendanceissmallandbyinvitationonly.Theirpurposeistocreateanatmosphereconducivetoinnovationanddevelopment.Refereei

6、ngislessrigorousandpapersaresubjectedtoextensivegroupdiscussion.PublicationsarisingfromIFIPeventsvary.ThepaperspresentedattheIFIPWorldComputerCongressandatopenconferencesarepublishedasconferenceproceedings,whiletheresultsoftheworkingconferencesareoftenpublishedascollectionsofselecte

7、dandeditedpapers.AnynationalsocietywhoseprimaryactivityisininformationmayapplytobecomeafullmemberofIFIP,althoughfullmembershipisrestrictedtoonesocietypercountry.FullmembersareentitledtovoteattheannualGeneralAssembly,Nationalsocietiespreferringalesscommittedinvolvementmayapplyforasso
