3、rameterstoobtaintheaveragefadingchannels,multipleaccesswithtimehopping,andvariousreceivertypesincludingslidingcorrelatorsandRAKEcombiners.BER,whichisthefocusofthispaper(PartII).Forageneralcorrelation-baseddetector,wederivedinPartIWefirstlayoutaprocedureforevaluatingtheBERperfor-unifyingexpr

4、essionsforthedecisionstatisticsaswellasBERmanceofanoptimumsymbol-by-symbolreceiverforanyran-formulasundermis-timinggivenfixedchannelrealizations.Indomchannel.TheBERisexpressedintermsofthereceiver’sPartII,weprovideasystematicapproachtoBERanalysisenergycapturecapability.Theresultsdependonacou

5、pleofundermis-timingforfadingchannels.TheBERisexpressedintermsofthereceiversenergycapturecapability,whichwekeychannelstatisticsthatcanbenumericallyobtainedbyquantifyundervariousradiooperatingconditions.Wealsoshowaveragingoveralargenumberofchannelrealizations.Thisaproperdesignofcorrelation-

6、templatethatisrobusttomis-generalapproachtoBERanalysisappliestoanychanneltiming.Throughanalysesandsimulations,weillustratethatthefadingtype,butrequirescomputationally-intensivenumericalreceptionqualityofaUWBimpulseradioishighlysensitivetoevaluation.Thismotivatesourfocusonreal-valuedGaussia
