2、bitraltribunalʺmeansasolearbitratororapanelofarbitratorsorapermanentarbitralinstitution;ʺarbitrationagreementʺmeansanagreementinwritingreferredtoinArticle7oftheModelLawandincludesanarbitrationclausecontainedorincorporatedbyreferenceinabilloflading;ʺawardʺmeansadecisionoft

3、hearbitraltribunalonthesubstanceofthedisputeandincludesanyinterim,interlocutoryorpartialaward;ʺModelLawʺmeanstheUNCITRALModelLawonInternationalCommercialArbitrationadoptedbytheUnitedNationsCommissiononInternationalTradeLawon21stJune1985,thetextinEnglishofwhichissetoutinth

4、eFirstSchedule;ʺpartyʺmeansapartytoanarbitrationagreementor,inanycasewhereanarbitrationdoesnotinvolveallofthepartiestothearbitrationagreement,meansapartytothearbitration.(2)Exceptsofarasthecontraryintentionappears,awordorexpressionthatisusedbothinthisPartandintheModelLaw(

5、whetherornotaparticularmeaningisgiventoitbytheModelLaw)has,intheModelLaw,thesamemeaningasithasinthisPart.3.ModelLawtohaveforceoflaw.(1)SubjecttothisAct,theModelLaw,withtheexceptionofChapterVIIIthereof,shallhavetheforceoflawinSingapore.(2)IntheModelLaw--ʺStateʺmeansSingapo

6、reandanycountryotherthanSingapore;ʺthisStateʺmeansSingapore.4.InterpretationofModelLawbyuseofextrinsicmaterial.(1)ForthepurposesofinterpretingtheModelLaw,referencemaybemadetothedocumentsof--(a)theUnitedNationsCommissiononInternationalTradeLaw;and(b)itsworkinggroupforthepr

7、eparationoftheModelLaw,relatingtotheModelLaw.(2)Subsection(1)shallnotaffecttheapplicationofsection9AoftheInterpretationActforthepurposesofinterpretingthisAct.5.ApplicationofPartII.(1)ThisPartandtheModelLawshallnotapplytoanarbitrationwhichisnotaninternationalarbitrationunl
