3、onofearthquakeactivityinChina.FivemajorearthquakesoccurredintheTibetanPlateauduringthelastdecade.Theyarethe1997ManiearthquakeofmagnitudeMs715inXizang,the2001KunlunMountainsearthquakeofmagnitudeMs811inQinghai,the2008YutianearthquakeofmagnitudeMs713inXingjiang,the2008Wenchuanear
4、thquakeofmagnitudeMs810inSichuan,andthe2010YushuearthquakeofmagnitudeMs711inQinghai.AllofthemoccurredaroundtheboundariesoftheBayankalafault2blockoftheTibetanfault2blockregionandrepresentedmostrecentactivityoftheblock.Earthquakesoccurredonthenorthernandsouthernboundariesofthebl
5、ockarestrike2slipfaultingevents.TheWenchuanearthquakeonitseasternboundaryisareversefaultingevent.TheYutianearthquakeonthewest2ernboundaryisanormalfaultingevent.ThekinematicsoftheseeventssuggestthesoutheastwardmovementoftheBayankalafault2block.MajorregionalseismicityintheTibeta
6、nfault2blockregionandtheBayankalafault2blockhasshownthemulti2periodactivitiesandmigrationfromoneregiontoanothersince1900.MostofstrongearthquakesoccurredalongthenorthernboundaryoftheTibetanfault2blockregionintheearlyperiodofthelastcentury,tookplacemostlyalongthesouthernboundary
7、oftheregioninthemiddleperiodofthelastcentury,andwerelocatedaroundtheBayankalafault2blockduringthelastdecade.Thispatternofseismicac2tivityandfault2blockmotionsintheTibetanfault2blockregionandtheBayankalafault2blockmayrelatetothecompressionandpenetrationoftheAustralia2Indianplat
