4、ts.Inthispaper,anactivemultimediasystemispresentedtoillustrateitsusefulnessindelayedconferencing.Theknowledgerepresentationandtheexecutionmodelaredescribedforgeneratingandexecut-ingactiveknowledge.Finally,wediscussthecurrentapproachandfuturework.1.IntroductionRecentresearchonimp
5、rovingpeople-to-peoplecommunicationhasbeenactivelyconducted.Mostofthisworkhasonlyaddressedsynchronouscommunication.Inparticular,videoconferencinghasbecomeaneffectivewayforpeopletocommunicatewithouthavingtotravellongdistances.Thoughithasproventobeveryusefulinmanysituations,inorde
6、rtohaveasuccessfulvideoconference,(1)itrequiresallinvolvedpartiestobepresentatthesametime,(2)allpartiesneedtobefullypreparedandabletogivequickresponsestominimizeexpensive“deadspace”,and(3)highcommuni-cationbandwidthisneeded.Ofcourse,asiscommoninmostconferencesettings,peopleinevi
7、tablytrytorushforcon-clusionsneartheendofthemeeting.Withtheaboveinmind,wearedevelopingnewtechniquestoconductvideoconferencesinwhichallpartiesneednotbepresentatthesametime,peoplecancommunicateattheirownpace,andnetworkbandwidthisutilizedmoreeffectively.Ourideaisbasedontheexchangeo
