3、esareand1991trace-basedFileSystemstudies,toinvestigatetheprobablynotappropriateforuseindesigningoroptimizingusagedetailsoftheWindowsNTfilesystemarchitecture,WindowsNTfilesystems.andtostudytheoverallstatisticalbehavioroftheusagedata.Thesetwoobservationshaveleadustobelievethatnewdataaboutf

4、ilesystemsusageisrequired,andthatitwouldInthispaperwereportontheseissuesthroughabeparticularlyinterestingtoperformtheinvestigationonadetailedcomparisonwiththeoldertraces,throughdetailsWindowsNTplatform.ontheoperationalcharacteristicsandthroughausageanalysisofthefilesystemandcachemanager.

5、NexttoInthispaperwereportonafilesystemusagestudyarchitecturalinsightsweprovideevidenceforthepervasiveperformedmainlyduring1998ontheWindowsNT4.0presenceofheavy-taildistributioncharacteristicsinalloperatingsystem.Wehadfourgoalsforthisstudy:aspectoffilesystemusage.Extremevariancesarefoundin
