2、P)toworkontheLong-TermEvolution(LTE).LTEisthelateststandardinthemobilenetworktechnologytreethatpreviouslyrealizedtheGSM/EDGEandUMTS/HSxPAnet-worktechnologiesthatnowaccountforover85%ofallmobilesubscribers.LTEwillensure3GPP’scompetitiveedgeoverothercellular
3、technologies.LTE,whoseradioaccessiscalledEvolvedUMTSTerrestrialRadioAccessNetwork(E-UTRAN),isexpectedtosubstantiallyimproveend-userthroughputs,sectorcapacityandreduceuserplanelatency,bringingsignificantlyimproveduserexperiencewithfullmobility.Withtheemerg
4、enceofInternetProtocol(IP)astheprotocolofchoiceforcarryingalltypesoftraffic,LTEisscheduledtoprovidesupportforIP-basedtrafficwithend-to-endQualityofservice(QoS).VoicetrafficwillbesupportedmainlyasVoiceoverIP(VoIP)enablingbetterintegrationwithothermultimedi
5、aservices.InitialdeploymentsofLTEareexpectedby2010andcommercialavailabilityonalargerscale1-2yearslater.UnlikeHSPA(HighSpeedPacketAccess),whichwasaccommodatedwithintheRelease99UMTSarchitecture,3GPPisspecifyinganewPacketCore,theEvolvedPacketCore(EPC)network
6、archi-tecturetosupporttheE-UTRANthroughareductioninthenumberofnetworkelements,simplerfunctionality,improvedredundancybutmostimportantlyallowingforconnectionsandhand-overtootherfixedlineandwirelessaccesstechnologies,givingtheserviceproviderstheabilitytodel
7、iveraseamlessmobilityexperienceLTEhasbeensetaggressiveperformancerequirementsthatrelyonphysicallayertechnologies,suchas,OrthogonalFrequencyDivisionMultiplexing(OFDM)andMultiple-InputMultiple-Output(MIMO)systems,SmartAntennastoachievethesetargets.Themainob
