5、ansportationResearch1IntroductionTransportationresearchhasthegoaltooptimizetransportationflowofpeopleandgoods.Asthenumberofroadusersconstantlyincreases,andresourcesprovidedbycurrentinfrastructuresarelimited,intelligentcontroloftrafficwillbecomeaveryimportanti
6、ssueinthefuture.However,somelimitationstotheusageofintelligenttrafficcontrolexist.Avoidingtrafficjamsforexampleisthoughttobebeneficialtobothenvironmentandeconomy,butimprovedtraffic-flowmayalsoleadtoanincreaseindemand[Levinson,2003].Thereareseveralmodelsfortra
7、fficsimulation.Inourresearchwefocusonmicroscopicmodelsthatmodelthebehaviorofindividualvehicles,andtherebycansimulatedynamicsofgroupsofvehicles.Researchhasshownthatsuchmodelsyieldrealisticbehavior[NagelandSchreckenberg,1992,WahleandSchreckenberg,2001].Carsinur
