5、hem.-INTRODUCTIONProcesscontrolsingeneralstartedatDESYintheearly80thwiththeinstallationofthecryogeniccontrolsystemfortheacceleratorHERA(Hadron-Elektron-Ring-Anlage).Anewtechnologywasnecessarybecausetheexistinghardwarewasnotcapabletohandlestandardprocesscontrolssignalsli

6、ke4to20mAinputandoutputsignalsandthesoftwarewasnotdesignedtorunPIDcontrolloopsatastablerepetitionrateof0.1seconds.Inadditionsequenceprogramswerenecessarytoimplementstartupandshutdownproceduresforthecomplexcryogenicprocesseslikecoldboxesandcompetecompressorstreets.Soonit

7、wasnecessarytoaddinterfacestofieldbusesandtoaddcomputingpowertocryogeniccontrols.SincetheinstalledD/3system[1]onlyprovidedandocumentedserialconnectiononamultibusboard,thedecisionwasmadetoimplementaDMAconnectiontoVMEandtoemulatethemultibusboard’sfunctionality.Thenecessar
