4、月日日期:年月ABSTRACTFormalEnglishteachingandlearninginChinahasdevelopedoveronehundredyears.ThefourskillsofEnglish,namely,listening,speaking,readingandwritingshoulddevelopinbalance.However,duetotheexam-driveneducationalsysteminChina,bothteachersandlearnersonlyfocusonwhoselangua
5、geaspectsbeingtestedinexams.Althoughwritingisalsocontainedinmostkindsofexams,sincewritingonlyaccountsforaquitesmallpercentagecomparedwithotherskills,say,reading,anditisthemosttime-consumingskilltoimprove,thefactisthatboththeteachersandstudentspaylittletimeandattentioninth
6、eteachingandpracticingofwritingskillwhichcontributetotheunsatisfiedperformanceofstudents‟writing.Anotherfactorattributestostudents‟poorperformanceinwritingliesinthedifferencesbetweenthemothertongueChineseandthetargetlanguageEnglish.Sincethesetwolanguagesbelongtotwodiffere
