2、ionofdietdigestibilityinpigsandpoultry.However,sometypesoffiberandfibersourcesdonotexertsuchnegativeeffectsonnutrientdigestibilityinoldergrowingpigsandsows.Dietaryfibercanhavepositiveeffectsonguthealth,welfare,andreproductiveperformanceofpigs.Hence,nutritionists
3、areattemptingtogainamorethoroughunderstandingofdietaryfiberinswinediets.Incontrast,thepotentialforuseoffibrousfeedstuffsinpoultrydietsismorelimitedwithtwoexceptions.First,highfiberdietshaveimportantvalueinwelfare-friendlymoltingprogramsforlayinghens.Secondly,the
4、needforcontrolledgrowthofpulletsandturkeybreedercandidatesmakesfibrousfeedstuffsusefulinthesephasesofpoultryproduction.IntroductionConcernsoverpreservingthewelfareandhealthofnonruminantlivestockinmodern,commercialproductionsystemsandtightprofitmarginshaveprompte
5、dlivestockproducerstoseekalternativeapproachestofeedingtheiranimals.Inaddition,steadyincreasesintheworld'shumanpopulationwillincreasethecompetitionbetweennonruminantlivestockandpeopleforgrainswithhighnutrientdensity(CAST,1999).Traditionally,fibrousfeedingredient
