4、llengesintheformofincreasedprivateletting,theimpactoftheeconomicdownturn,majorchangesinemploymentlawandthecontinuedgrowthofhousingworkinallitsformsincludingrentarrears,evictioncases,homelessnessandlandlords’repairs.ØTheeconomicdownturnhasseenanincreaseinthenumberofclientsseekingadvic

5、eabouttheirfinances.Althoughnotamoneyadviceproject,theLawCentrehasafrontlineroletoplayinadvisingclientswheretheystandwithregardtotheirdebts.Manyclientsaresimplyterrifiedofthethoughtofdebtcollectorsphoningthemorcallingattheirhouse.TheLawCentrecanadviseclientstodefusetheiranxietyandtod

6、ealappropriatelywiththeirdebtthrougheither,referencetoanappropriatemoneyadvisororincasesofdisputeddebt,dealingwiththematterappropriatelythroughnegotiationorcourtproceedings.ØTheincreaseintheSmallClaimlevelto£3,000hasseenadramaticincreaseinthistypeofworkcarriedoutbytheLawCentre.LegalA
