1、ABSTRACTABSTRACTWiththedevelopmentofmodernwirelesscommunication,alotofhigherrequirementshavebeenproposedforantennasuchasminiaturization,broadband,lowloss.Recently,dielectricresonatorantenna(DRA)havebeenwidelystudiedowingtotheirgoodperformancesincludingwidebandwidth,
2、lowlossandvariousexcitation.Comparedwithlinearlypolarizedwave,thecircularlypolarizedwaveisinsensitivetothetransmitterandreceiverorientations,andinsatellitecommunications,italsoofferslesssensitivitytopropagationeffects.Thusthisdissertationismainlyconcernedwiththedesi
3、gnandimplementationofcircularlypolarizedDRAs.WidebandcircularlypolarizedDRAsandcompactcircularlypolarizedDRAsusingforsatellitecommunicationshavebeenproposed.Theauthor’smajorcontributionsareoutlinedasfollows.1.TwobroadbandcircularlypolarizedDRAshavebeendesigned.First
4、ly,amonofilar-spiral-slotisusedtoexcitetheDRA.Themagneticcurrentdistributionisatravelingwavetypealongtheslot.Byusingsuchanexcitation,awide3-dBARbandwidthof8.3%andanimpedancebandwidthof18.3%havebeenachieved.Secondly,aperturbedsquareringslotisusedtoexcitetheDRA.Bydeli
5、beratelyadjustingthesizeoftheslot,aultra-widebandcircularlypolarizedisdesignedusingthecombinationofsquare-ring-slotantennaandDRA。2.AcompactcircularlypolarizedDRAhasbeenstudied.Consideringtherequirementsofsatellitenavigationantenna,especiallyforthesmallsizeandtheperf
6、ormancesinlowelevation,thetopsurfaceoftheDRAismetalizedtoreducetheresonantfrequencyoftheantenna.Bytheadditionofmetallizationatthetop,thesizeoftheantennaisreducedabout40%.Theradiationmodeisalsostudied.3.Accordingtherequirements,twofeedingmethodsisusedtodesignantenna.
7、Theantennafedbytwoprobeshaveacquiredgoodaxialratiocharacteristic,theinherentQ-factoroftheresonantantennacanbereducedbyusingthedielectricstackstructure,thusthebandwithcanincrease.Theantennafedbytheslothaveachievedagoodimpedancematchbyadjustingthedimensionofthemicrost
