2、mswhicharecharacterizedbythefollowingfeatures:1.Thesystemsareinherentlyhybrid,i.e.,hybridcontrolisnotmerelyachoice.Thisisexemplifiedbytransmissiongearpositions(discrete)andenginethrottlecontrol(analog).2.Systemdynamicsarehighlynonlinearandcontainparametricerrorsandstructura
3、luncertainties.Anymodelthatissuitableforcontrolsystemde-velopmentwillinevitablycontainlargemodelingerrors.Inthispaper,ahybridcontroldesignapproachisusedtodevelopcontrolstrategiesforcoordinationofautomotiveengineandtransmissionsystems.Themaingoalistoimprovesystemperformance,
4、fueleconomy,robustness,andotherperformancespecifications.Thedesignprocedurefollowscloselythemainideasofthemethodintroducedrecentlyin[4].Themethodemploysperformancein-dicesinguidingbothanaloganddiscretecontrolactionssuchthatrobuststabil-ityandperformanceofclosed-loophybridsy
5、stemsaremaintained,inthepres-enceofmodelingerrors,disturbances,andstructuraluncertainties.Themethod,however,mustbemodifiedsignificantlyinthiscasestudytoaccommodateprac-ticalconstraints,includingactuatorsaturations,gearshiftinglimitations,andreal-timecomputationrequirements.
