2、onstructingmeaningfromart,makingusreceptivetotheelementofperformancebothintheprocessesofartproductionandintheactofinterpretationitself.PerformingtheBody/PerformingtheTextexploresthenewperformativityinarttheoryandpractice,examiningwaysofrethinkinginterpretiveprocessesinvisual
3、culture.Thiscollectionundertakestwoparallelprojects:exploringartpracticeswhichperformthesubject,andexaminingwaysinwhichmodesofperformativityincontemporaryartoffernewmodelsforinterpretingartworks.Demonstratinghowmodernistartcriticismattemptstofixtheworkwithmorestableaesthetic
4、meanings,thecontributorsarguethatinterpretationneedstoberecognizedasmuchmoredynamicandcontingent.Itdoesnotcome`naturally'atthemomentofcontactwiththeartwork,butisworkedoutasanongoing,openperformancebetweenartistandspectators,withmeaningcirculatingfluidlyinthecomplexwebofconne
