4、rnandtheJewishandGermanmodesascontrastandcomparison.MydeliberationonthenatureofreflectivethinkinganditspsychologicalprocessessoonledmetoadialoguewiththedifferentformsofdialecticinOccidentalandOrientalcultures.Itmayhavebeenmydissatisfactionwithsomecurrentpracticeintheresearchareaof“cultureandcogn

5、ition”thatgavemethefinalmomentumtoputmyideasdownintowords.Intheend,IproducedanarticlethatdiscussedvariousformsofdialecticincludingGreekdialectic,Hegeliandialectic,contemporaryGermannegativedialectic,Chinesedialectic,andIndiannegativedialectic.Theywerefurtherarticulatedasidealtypesthatcouldservea

6、sconstellationstofacilitateempiricalstudiesondialecticalthinking.NewresearchquestionswerealsogainedbyadheringtotheScribnerianmultilevelschemethatreconstructsVygotsky’sthesis,andbyreturningtothecoreideasofVygotskyhimself.InthecitywhereIlive,thepolarizationinvaluation,argumentation,andactionhasbe
