6、ecompositioninorganicparticlefilledpolyimides.ThesepolyimidesweretestedforthermalstabilityandflammabilityFlammabilityinresinpelletformandasaprotectivecoatingforacarbonefibercompositestructure.OurresultsInorganicnanoparticlesdemonstratethattheresinwithinorganicparti
7、clesexhibitedsignificantreductionsinflammabilitybythemselves,butminimalflammabilityreductionwhenusedasathincoatingtoprotectacarbonefibercomposite.Further,thegainsinthermalstabilityarelimitedbythethermalstabilityofthepolyimidematrix,suggestingthatmoreworkisneededinme
8、asuringthelimitsofinorganicfillerstoimprovethermalstability.Still,theresultsarepromisingandmayyieldpolyimidesystemsusefulforprovidingresistancetodamagefromhighheatfluxe
