1、摘要随着经济的高速发展，交通运输业也得到了飞速发展，车辆数量越来越多，但是随之而来的交通问题也日益突出，这使得智能交通(IntelligentTransportationSystem，简称ITS)系统成为研究热点，并受到了国内外学者的广泛的关注。车牌识别系统(LicensePlateRecognition，简称LPR)是智能交通领域中重要的研究课题之一。本文研究了一种基于多模板匹配的车牌识别算法，主要工作如下：(1)提出了基于XYZ颜色空间的车牌定位方法，该方法利用了车牌图像的颜色信息，并结合车牌区域的几何特征，快速准确的提取出车牌区域。实验表明该算法定位准确率高，且具有较强的环境适应性。

2、(2)在车牌粗定位的基础上对车牌进行了精确定位，包括利用Radon变换对车牌进行倾斜矫正，水平上下边界的去噪操作以及图像的二值化与大小归一化。充分考虑了字符的粘连、断裂、噪声、车牌边框干扰等多种情况，并利用垂直投影法对车牌进行了字符的分割。(3)最后采用多模板匹配算法对分割后的字符进行识别。首先对字符图像进行预处理和归一化，在考虑了字符图像笔画左右严重缺失的情况下，构建三种类型的模板库，并在构建好的多模板图库上进行模板匹配，整个过程采用分块匹配的方法来加速模板匹配的过程。实验结果表明该方法具有很高的车牌字符整体识别率。关键词：车牌识别，车牌定位，字符分割，字符识别，多模板匹配ⅡAbstra
