4、eeconomicvalueandstrategicsignificance.Accordingtoroughestimates,largeandsu2perlargemineraldepositsonlyaccountfor5%~10%ofthetotaldepositsbutprovide30%~50%oftheworld'smineralresources/reserves.Theyplayadecisiveroleinthesustainableeconomicandsocialdevelopmentinacertaincountryoreveninthe
5、wholeworld.TheWorldMetallogenicMapofLargeandSuperlargeMineralDe2positsonthescaleof1∶25000000wascompiledbyPeiRongfu,D.V.Rundquist,MeiYanxiongandsomeothersin2006andpublishedbytheGeologicalPublishingHousein2009.Inthemap,threemajorcategoriesofmineralresources(energymineralresources,metall
6、icmineralresourcesandnonmetallicmineralresources),22mineralsand445largeandsuperlargemineraldepositsareplotted.Accordingtotheglobalgeologicaltectonicsettingsandmetallogeniccharacteristics,fourmetallogenicdomains,namely,Laurasia,Gondwana,Tethysandcircum2Pacific,and21giganticmetallogenic
7、districts,havebeendistinguished.Locatedinthenorthernpartoftheearth,theLaurasiametallogenicdomaintraversesNorthAmerica,EuropeandAsiaandiscomposedofsixgiganticmetallogenicdistricts,i.e.,NorthAmerica,Greenland,Europe,Ural2Mongolia,SiberiaandSino2Ko2rea.itischaracterizedbylarge2scaleminer
