3、leswereconstructedinthetropicalsoilofthecityofBrasília,whichisatypicallaterizedandcollapsibleclayeymaterialoftheBrazilianCentralPlateau.ThepilesarefoundedintheexperimentalresearchsiteoftheUniversityofBrasília,withinitscampus.Theywereconstructedunderdifferingconstructionprocedures,whichhaveinf
4、luencedintheirfinalbehavior,intermsofloadxsettlementcurves.Thepaperdemonstratesthatwiththeuseofwell-establishedsoilparametersforthisgeotechnicalmaterial,withasoundtheoreticalmodel&numericaltool,itispossibletosimulatereasonablywelltheinsitubehavioroftheboredpiles.Keywords:Tropicalsoil,boredpil
5、e,deepfoundationandnumericalanalysis1.IntroductionTheBraziliancapital,Brasilia,isadesignedcitylocatedintheFederalDistrictofBrazil.Itwasbuiltintheearly60’stohousethemainGovernmentaladministrativeinstitutionsandithasincreaseditspopulationfourtimesasinitiallyforecasted.Thisfacthasmotivatedthedev
6、elopment,useandresearchofdistinctdeepfoundationtechniquesintheseveralongoingconstructionsitesofthissamecity.Hence,thepaperpresentsexperimentalresultsfromfieldloadingtestscarriedoutwithdistinctdeepfoundationsfoundedinthetropicalsoiloftheUniversityofBrasíliaresearchsite.Moreover,anumericalanaly
7、siswascarriedoutwithsomeofthepiles,inordertosimulatetheirinsitubehaviorwiththeexisting(labandfield)data.Twotypesofpileswereselectedforthisparticularanalysis,i.e.,amechanicallyboredanda“root”typecast-in-placepile.Thenumericalanalysiswasdonewit
