4、metadata,whichmakeitimpossibletoberetrievedandutilized．Accordingly,thispaperaimsatstudyingtheapplicationofmetadatatechnologyingenealogyinformationmanagingandsharing．BasedonthegenealogymetadatasharingandgenealogyGISbuilding，thispaperanalyzedthecharacteristicsofChinesegeneal

5、ogyfromtheaspectsoftheshape，thestructureandthefamilyfeaturesofChinesegenealogy,byreferencingtheexistingresearchachievementsonmetadataandgenealogybothathomeandabroad．Accordingly,acomprehensivegenealogymetadataschemewhichpayssufficientattentiononthespatio-temporalinformation

6、ofthegenealogyisconstructed．Furthermore，theChinesegenealogymetadatainformationsystemwasdevelopedforverifyingthewell-designedgenealogymetadatascheme．Thesystemconsistsofdataacquisitionandmanagementsubsystemandinformationsharingandservingsubsystem，whichCaneffectivelyservesthe
