3、nces,itmustbeappropriatelylocatedandclamped,makingitimperativetodeveloptoolsthatwilleliminatecostlyandtime-consumingtrial-and-errordesigns.Properworkpiecelocationandfixturedesignarecrucialtoproductqualityintermsofprecision,accuracyandfinishofthemachi

4、nedpart.Theoretically,the3-2-1locatingprinciplecansatisfactorilylocateallprismaticshapedworkpieces.Thismethodprovidesthemaximumrigiditywiththeminimumnumberoffixtureelements.Topositionapartfromakinematicpointofviewmeansconstrainingthesixdegreesoffreed

5、omofafreemovingbody(threetranslationsandthreerotations).Threesupportsarepositionedbelowtheparttoestablishthelocationoftheworkpieceonitsverticalaxis.Locatorsareplacedontwoperipheraledgesandintendedtoestablishthelocationoftheworkpieceonthexandyhorizont

6、alaxes.Properlylocatingtheworkpieceinthefixtureisvitaltotheoverallaccuracyandrepeatabilityofthemanufacturingprocess.Locatorsshouldbepositionedasfarapartaspossibleandshouldbeplacedonmachinedsurfaceswhereverpossible.Supportsareusuallyplacedtoencompasst

7、hecenterofgravityofaworkpieceandpositionedasfarapartaspossibletomaintainitsstability.Theprimaryresponsibilityofaclampinfixtureistosecurethepartagainstthelocatorsandsupports.Clampsshouldnotbeexpectedtoresistthecuttingforcesgeneratedinthemachiningopera
