2、edinthestandardslistedbelow.Theseresearch-basedstandardsprovideaframeworkofrigoroussubjectmatterknowledgefromgeneralandliberaleducation,relevantpedagogicalknowledgeforoptimalstudentlearning,achievement,andparticipationinaglobalsociety.Acertifiedteacherwithi
3、ntheStateofMichiganmustinitiallypossessandbeabletodemonstratecontinuedgrowthin:1.SUBJECTMATTERKNOWLEDGE-BASEINGENERALANDLIBERALEDUCATIONAnunderstandingandappreciationofgeneralandliberalartsincludingEnglish,literature,humanities,socialsciences,mathematics,na
4、turalorphysicalsciences,andthearts,andtheabilityto:a.Synthesize,analyze,reflectupon,andwritewithclarityandstructureaboutideas,information,anddatafromageneralandliberaleducation,andtherelationshipsbetweenthevariousdisciplines;b.Understandandappreciatefreeinq
5、uiryinEnglish,literature,humanities,socialsciences,mathematics,naturalorphysicalsciences,andthearts;c.Understandglobalandinternationalperspectivesofthedisciplines;d.Understandthetenetsofafree,democratic,andpluralisticsociety;e.Understandandrespectvaryingpoi
