4、s.TheresultsshowthatthereismixedsemidiurnaitideexistinginthePearlRiver,andthetide-typefactorrangesfrom1.1toI.3.Intheestuary,thetidalamplitudeintheeastsideishigherthanthatinthewestside,andthetideintheeastpropagatesmorequicklythanthatinthewest;thetidalcurrent

5、sismainlynorthwesternandsoutheasternwitharectilinear-currentmotion,andthemaximumcurrentvelocityappearsinthechannel;theresidualcurrentinthechannelflowstowardsthesouth,influencedbydrainageoftherunoff,whileinthewesternshoaloftheestuary,itflowstowardsthenorth,w

6、hereastmctureofcirculationemerges.Thetidalenergyfluxpropagatingfromopensea,themaximumofwhichappearsinthewestandeastchanneloftheestuary,mostlyconvergesinthePearlRiverEstuary,andcirclescounterclockwisearoundQi’aoIsland.Thestudycalculatedthetransportofestuarin

7、emassandthecapacityofwaterexchangeTheresultsindicatethat,withanimpactoftides,thecapacityofthewaterexchangeinthePearlRiverEstuaryisweakandtheresidencetimeofthewatersismorethan90days,.Therunoffandthewindstresscanenhancethecapacityofthewaterexchange,andtheresi
