2、columnsarecapableofundergoinglargelateraldeformationwithnegligibleresidualdrift.Theuseofprecastsegmentalconstructionforbridgepiershasincreasedinthepastcoupleofdecades,butnotinregionsofhighseismicityduetothelimitedenergydissipationcapacityandunknownsregardingtheb

3、ehaviorduringearthquakes.Inthispaper,thetheoreticalandnumericalinvestigationofunboundedpost-tensionedbridgepierswithexternal,fullyreplaceableviscoelastic(VE)dampersaredeveloped,tofurtheradvancethedevelopmentofhigh-performanceseismic-resistantbridgepiers.(1)Visco

4、elastic(VE)dampersareoneofthemostcommonearthquakemitigationdevices.Inthispaper,basedontherequirementofspecificinstallationwithinthebridgepiersandenergydissipationcapacity,anumberofVEdampersaredesignedandfabricatedusingNBR3305viscoelasticmaterials.Themechanicalpr

5、opertiestestsofVEdampersareperformedtodescribeitscomplexcharacteristicschangingwithexcitingfrequencyandstrainamplitude.Inthisstudy,theKelvinmodelisusedtosimulatetheperformanceofVEdampers,whichissimpleandsmallsystemofequation,convenientforlinearandnonlinearsystem

6、s.ComparisonbetweenthenumericalandexperimentalresultsshowsthattheVEdamperscanbemodeledbytheKelvinmodelandthefabricateddampersareeffectiveinreducingtheseismicresponsesofstructures.Meanwhile,thispaperaddressesthemathematicalmodelingofVEdampersconsideringthetransla
