6、eonce"ThorunnLonsdale1ThemajorityofJeanRhys'sshortstoriesaresetinthreelocations,France,EnglandandDominica.AllthreeplacesweresignificantforRhysand,asaresult,figureprominentlyinherwriting.Ofthethreelocations,however,nonewaseverreally'home'toRhysandmuchofherwritingexploresideasofbelongingandidentity.
7、Francewasdefinitelynot'home',but,ironically,itwasthere,andespeciallyinParis,thatRhysachievedasenseofbelongingandthisisreflectedinherwritingsetthere.AlthoughborninDominicawhereshewasoneofthewhiteminority,andthedescendantofaslaveowningfamily,RhysspentthemajorpartofherlifeinEngland,butitisacountryfor
