1、OfficeofGraduateStudiesInformationSheetThesisbyPublicationTheRulesGoverningResearchHigherDegrees(Rule000830)allowforathesistobesubmittedintheformofaseriesofpublishedpapers.Rule53.Athesissubmittedintheformofaseriesofpublishedpapersshallconformtothefollowing

2、:a)        afullexplanatoryoverviewshallbeincludedtolinktheseparatepapersandtoplacetheminthecontextofanestablishedbodyofknowledge;b)        aliteraturereviewshallbeincluded;c)        ifdetaileddataanddescriptionsofmethodsarenototherwisegiven,theyshallbeinc

3、ludedasappendices;d)        thepapersmustbepublished,inpressorsubmittedtoscholarlymediaonly,i.e.refereedpublicationsclassifiedbynationaljournalrankingsandrefereedconferencepapers,howeveratleast50%ofthepapersmusthavebeenpublished. Paperspublisheduptothreeye

4、arspriortoenrolmentmaybeincludedprovidedtheywerepublishedinscholarlymediaanddonotrepresentmorethan50%ofthetotalpapers;e)        publicationssubmittedforanotherdegreebythestudentmayonlybereferredtointheliteraturereview;f)         thenumberofpaperssubmitteds

5、houldbesufficientforthebodyofworktoconstituteasignificantandoriginalcontributiontoknowledge;g)        thecandidatemustbetheleadauthorinatleast50%ofthepaperswritteninthetimeoftheirformalResearchHigherDegreecandidature.Anypublishedpaperofwhichthecandidateisa

6、jointauthormayonlybeincludedinthethesisprovidedtheworkdonebythecandidateisclearlyidentified.Thecandidatemustincludeinthethesisawrittenstatementfromeachco-authorattestingtothecandidate’scontributiontoajointpublicationincludedaspartofthethesis. Thesestatemen
