3、cationstosedimentprovenance;theevolutionofnearly520kyrpaleoceanographyicfeaturesinthenortherncontinentalslopeofthebaywerealsodiscussed,andseveralconclusionswereasdrawnasfollows:(1)Constrainedbywaterdepth/topography,currentsandicebergs,sedimentenvironmentdifferesbeyweendiff

4、erentsectorsofthebay.Theshelfareacanbesubdividedintotwosectors.InsectorⅠ,includingFramBank,areainfrontofAmeryIceShelf,CapeDarnley(BurtonBasin)andFourLadiesBank,sedimentcontainsmoregravel,sandandIceRaftedDetritus.SedimentsupplyisobviouslyinfluencedbyAmeryIceShelfandtidalgla

5、ciers,currents,icebergs,andtheirtransportroutineinthebay.InsectorⅡ,includingAmeryBasin,PrydzChannelandSvennerChannel,sedimentscontainmoresilt,whilesandandgravelcontentisless,andsedimentationisinfluencedbywaterdepth,currents.Particularly,sedimentinAmeryBasin,centerofPrydzBa

6、yGyre,containsmorefineparticlesandiswellsorted.Sedimentationisaffectedbybottomcurrents,AntarcticSlopeCurrent,gravityflow,materialexchangesbetweencontinentalshelfandcontinentalslopeandicebergs.(2)Heavymineralcontentsofsurfacesedimentsshowadecreasingtrendfromeasttowestintheb
