2、olumecontinuetoincreaseinvariouselectronicsystems.Duetotheinherentmutualcouplingeffectsbetweenarrayelements,traditionalbroadbandarraysbasedonthedesignofbroadbandelementsarefoundtobemoreandmoredifficulttomeetthesechallengingrequirements.Ontheotherhand,broadbandarraysbasedonmutualcoupl
3、ingeffectsarecapableofextendingthearraybandwidthsignificantly,throughincreasingthemutualcouplingbetweenarrayelementsintentionally.Inthisthesis,somerelevantstudyontheapplicationofthenewbroadbandarraydesignapproachintothedesignofwidebandslottedarrayantennasarecarriedout.Thethesismainly
4、containsthefollowingseveralparts:Firstly,theimportanceandresearchstatusofbroadbandphasedarrayantennasareintroduced.Secondly,thebasictheoryofphasedarraysispresented.ByusingtheequivalentcircuitsandSmithchart,thephysicalessenceofhowabroadbandslotphasedarraybasedonmutualcouplingworksisde
5、scribedindetail.Thirdly,basedonthetheoreticalanalysis,aslotlineararraythathas4.5octaveswithwidescanangle(upto±45°)isdesignedthroughnumericalsimulationusingcommercialsoftware.Amicrostripline--parallellinebalunisalsodesigned,whichcanbeusedtoachievethewellimpedancetransformationandbalan
6、cetransformationbetweenthecoaxialfeedandantennaelement.Finally,asimplifiedfeednetworkconsistingofdelaylinesandpowerdividersisdesigned.Abroadbandslottedphasedlineararrayismanufactured,integratedandmeasured.Measurementresultsshowthattheproposedslotlineararrayhasapreferredwidebandwidtha
