2、cessivelyinChina,sincecurrentpowergriddevelopsveryfast,thetransmissionlineaccidentscausedbylightninghavenewfeatures.Ononehand,comparedwithtraditionaltransmissionlines,E/UHVtransmissionlinesischaracterizedbyhighoperationvoltage,largetowersize,andlongdistanceandlongspanpowertrans
3、mission,whichbringsmorelightningriskstotransmissionlines.Ontheotherhand,indifferentareas,thetransmissionlinecorridor,theterrainlandform,thelightningactivityparameters,thevoltageoperationgradeandeverysectionofthelinearedifferent.Therefore,tostudythelightningshieldingmodeloftrans
4、missionlinesandthemethodtoestimatethelightningshieldingperformanceoftransmissionlines,andtoanalyzethelightningshieldingperformanceoftransmissionlinesaccurately,isessentiallyimportanttothelightningprotectiondesignandtheanalysisoflightningshieldingfailureflashoveraccidentoftransm
5、issionlines.Thephysicalapproachofelectricgeometrymodel(EGM)isdiscussedfirst,analyzingitsphysicalbasis,focusingontheconceptanddevelopmentprocessofstrikingdistance,meanwhile,EGMconcerningtheoperationvoltage,groundobliquityandwinddeflectionisintroducedbasedontheargumentation.Apply
6、ingthismodel,thelightningshieldingperformanceof±500kVEHVDCtransmissionlinestowerarecalculatedhere,Andsummarizedthevariationofmaximumshieldingfailurelightningcurrentandshieldingfailuretriprater.Theexistingleaderpropagationmodels(LPM)areanalyzedherenext,andbasedontheobservedlight
