2、wn,exceptfortheyear1934-35,whenDr.MargaretMacdonaldandIsharedournotes.ThefirstdraftImadeonleavingCambridgewasacompilationofhernotesandmineforthatyear,andtheoriginaldraftofhernoteswaskindlymadeavailabletomebyMr.RushRhees,togetherwithscatterednoteswhichWittgenste
3、inmadeatthetimehegavethelecturesoftheEastertermof1934-35.Forthelecturesof1932-33,myfirstyearinCambridge,Ihavehadtodependsolelyonmynotesandmymemory,bothoflecturesofthatyearentitled"PhilosophyforMathematicians"andoflecturestoalargerclassthroughouttheyear.Theso-ca
4、lledYellowBookconsistsofnotestakenduringtheyear1933-34byMs.MargaretMastermanandmyselfoflecturesandinformaldiscussionsduringintervalsinthedictationofTheBlueBook.WhatappearshereasPartIIincludesonlymyownnotes,notthoseofMs.Masterman.NotestakenonthesamematerialbyFra
5、ncisSkinner,nowdeceased,wereincludedintheYellowBookbutformedonlyasmallpartofthetotal.ItseemedtomebetteronthewholetousenotesforwhichIalonewasresponsible.MyconcernhasbeentopresentaconnectedandfaithfulaccountofwhatWittgensteinsaid.Someofthepeoplewhomighthaveaidedm
6、einthisendeavorbyprovidingmewithnotesforcomparisonwithmyownarenowdead.Thenotesofotherswhowereintheclassesweretoomeagretobeused.Wittgenstein'spublishedwritings,wherevertheycontainmaterialoverlappingwithmyown,areofcourseconfirmation.Wherematerialsarenottreatedint
7、hemanuscriptsnowpublished,IhavesimplyrecordedwhatIhad,inordertomakerelatedtextsavailabletophilosophers.Afewofthenotesweretooconfusedorobscuretopermitofintelligiblereconstruction,andtheseIhaveomitted,myreasonbeingthatmynotesratherthanWittgenstein'slectureswereat
8、fault.Ihavealsoomittednoteswhichwereduplicationsofwell-knownmaterialalreadypublishedinhisTractatus.Ithinkhewouldhavebeeninagreement,andthathisowndeletionswouldhavebeenfarmor
