1、AbstractCitiesinChinahavebeenthrougharapiddevelopmentsincethereformoftheeconomy．Whilewithpressurefromthethreepeaksofthetotalpopulationinrecentyears，whicharetheemploymentandtheaged，andtheaccelerationofurbanization，ahugeamountofpopulationenteredtheurba

2、nareas，asaresult，citiesinChinahavetoabsorbmoreenergyandnaturalresourcestowithstandahighlyconcentratedpopulationandaminedurbaneco．environment，andthelivingconditiongetworseandworse．ThispaperattemptstotaketheexampleofQingdao，whichstandsfortheeasterncoas

3、talareasofChinawithhighlydevelopedeconomyandoutstandingeffectonthedevelopmentoftheregionsaround，tostudythethoroughevaluationandanalysisofthesustainableurbandevelopment．Basedontheformalstudyonthesustainableurbandevelopment，anevaluatingsystemisestablis

4、hedandrespectivedataiscollectedtoperformfactoranalysis，tounderstandtheimportanceoftheindividualevaluatingfactor,andthentoapplycatas仃ophetheoryandclusteranalysistocomparethesustainableurbandevelopmentofQingdaoandothervice—provincecities．Nevertheless，d

5、ataenvelopanalysiscouldbeutilizedtoaIlalyzethesustainableurbandevelopmentofQingdaoduringthepasttenyearsandprovidesuggestionsandadvices．TheresultofDEAshowsthat，duringthepasttenyears，effectivedevelopmentonlyexistedin2002and2011，andtheoverallscoreofQing

6、daodecreasesfirstandincreasesafter2007．Thereturnofscaleexcept2002and201isnotsimplyincreasingordecreasing，whichindicatesthatthesustainabledevelopmentofQingdaoinrecentyearsisnotstable．Before2007theimprovementofQingdaoshouldfocusontheeconomicandenvironm

7、entalaspect，whileafter2007itshouldfocusonthesociety．Theresultofcatastropheanalysisshowsthat，amongtheeightvice—provincecities，theoverallrankingofQingdaoonsustainableurbandevelopmentisNo．2，andrespectively,theeconomicandenvironmentalrankingofQingdaoisNo
