1、AbstractSince1978whenChinastartedthepolicyofreformandopening,foreigndirectinvestmentshavebeenusedbylotsofChinesecompaniesandtheyareplayingamoreandmoreimportantroleincapitalmarketofChinatoday.AccordingtoChineseOfficialStatisticalYearbook,therewere930mi

2、llionChineseyuanfromforeigndirectinvestmentinChina’scapitalmarketin1983,andin2000,therewereover40billionChineseyuaninChina’scapitalmarketinvestedbyforeigncompanies.Inthelatest2013StatisticalYearbook,theforeigndirectinvestmentincreasedto117.6billionChi

3、neseyuanwhichwas128timestothatwhenChinajuststartedtoopenthemarket.ItisapparentlythatforeigndirectinvestmenthasbecomeoneofthemostimportantpartsofChineseeconomytoday.HoweverforeigndirectinvestmentbroughtnotonlythebenefittoboostChineseeconomy,butalsothen

4、egativeeffectonotheraspects.Oneoftheeffectsisthegrowingpollutionbroughtbyforeigndirectinvestment.SomemultinationcompaniesbroughtbothmoneyandpollutioninChinaatthesametime,andChinesegovernmentshavetocompromisetothosecompaniesiftheywanttogetthefund.IfChi

5、nawantstoimplementsustainabledevelopment,theyhavetofindaneffectivemethodtoputlimitonthatpollution.ThegrowthofChineseeconomyisrelyingonthedevelopmentofindustrialenterprisesbasedonthecurrentsituationofChina,whichalsoattractthelargestportionofforeigndire

6、ctinvestments,andindustrialenterpriseswhichspendalotofenergyandrawmaterialsarealsothelargestpollutionsourcesamongallcompanies.Therefore,lotsofmultinationindustrialcompanieswhichwouldliketoderivethelargestprofitwouldmostlikelyswitchtheirhighpollutionse

7、rvicestoChinawhohasaverylowlevelonregulatingpollution.Thisarticlewilldescribetheoriesandexamplestoresearchontherelationshipbetweenregulatingenvironmentandforeigndirectinvestments.Firstofall,itwillquoteandsummarizeopinionsofresearchersfromChinaandother
