conductedtodeterminatetheyieldadvantageandnutrientuptakeandconversionof
peanuts/cotton,soybean/cotton,chickpea/cotton,onion/cotton,radish/cotton,line
chilli/cotto
4、nintercropping,comparedtotheircorrespondingmonocultures.A
greenhousestudyofcottonintercroppedwithradishandonionwasalsosetupto
determinethecontributionofinterspecificrootinteractionstocropnutrientuptake
andcottonfiberquality,througharootbarrierdevise.Resultsshowedthatfiberle
5、ngthofcottonintercroppedwithonionwassignificantly(P<0.05)greaterthanthatinsolecroppingcotton..Althoughthemicronaireofcottonfiberissignificantlygreaterinthecotton/linearchilli,cotton/chickpeaandcotton/peanutintercroppingthaninsolecropping,theywere
distributedwithinthesamerange

nosignificantdifferencesinelongation,reflectivity,yellowdegrees,spinning
consistencyindexandfiberstrengthbetweenintercroppedandsolecroppingcotton.
Intercroppingdidnotreducethefiberqualityofcotton.Landequivalentratios(LERs)
ofpeanu
7、ts/cotton,chickpea/cotton,onion/cottonandradishintercroppingwere1.02,1.30,1.12and1.68,respectively,indicatingsignificantyieldadvantages.However,
LERsofthebothsoybean/cottonandlinechilli/cottonintercroppingwere0.91and0.99respectively,indicatingnoyieldadvantages.Nitrogenuptak
