2、ationalforewordThisBritishStandardistheofficialEnglishlanguageversionofEN1011-2:2001.TogetherwithBSEN1011-1:1998itsupersedesBS5135:1984whichiswithdrawn.ItisimportanttothattheBSEN1011seriesofstandardsusestheconceptofheatinputtotheweldwhereasBS5135usedarcenergy.These

3、twotermsarenotinterchangeableandcareshouldbetakenwhentransposingdatafromBS5135totheBSEN1011standards.AttentionisalsodrawntothefactthatannexCofthisstandarddetailstwomethodsforpredictingpreheattemperaturestoavoidhydrogencracking.Thedifferencesinoriginandexperienceuse

4、dtodevelopthesetwomethodsaredetailedinC.1andthiscanbeusedasaguidetotheirapplication.TraditionallyintheUKthemethoddetailedinBS5135hasbeenusedinconjunctionwithweldprocedureapprovalinaccordancewiththeBSEN288series.ThemethoddetailedinC.2isthatgiveninBS5135,inanupdatedf
