1、.1.Introduction1.1NecessityandSignificanceoftheStudyThestudyofpresuppositionhasbeenthemostproblematicandcontroversialareasinlinguisticresearch.Fromitsorigininphilosophicalstudytosemanticsandpragmatics,manyresearchersproposedlotsofdefinitionsanddescribedpresuppositionf

2、romvariousperspectives.Meanwhile,theyhadmademuchcontributiontothestudyofpragmaticpresuppositionandishardformetomakesomethingnew.Butitispossibleformetotrytoanalysisthepragmaticpresuppositionfromanewperspective—LanguageNetworkofWordGrammar.WordGrammar(henceforward:WG)is

3、atheoryoflanguagewhichtouchesonalmostallaspectsofsynchroniclinguisticsandunifiesthemallthroughasingleverygeneralclaim(Hudson1984:1):TheNetworkPostulate:Languageisaconceptualnetwork.Pragmaticpresuppositionistreatedastheknowledgepresupposedbeforehandbetweentwopartiesinv

4、erbalcommunication.Andlanguageplaysthebasicroleinthecommunication.InWG,languageisnothingbutanetwork–therearenorules,principles,orparameterstocompletethework.Thenodesmeananotionoflanguageandlinkspointtotherelationsbetweenthenotions.AndIsaisastandardnotationinWGdiagrams

5、:asmalltrianglewhosebaseisnexttothesupercategoryandwhoseapexisconnectedtothesubcategories.(Thetriangleisiconic:thebaseislargerthantheapex,asthesupercategoryislargerthanthesubcategories.)Thelinemaypointinanydirection,soallthreediagramsareequivalent.Isalinksallowmultipl
