3、inaryandPreliminaryforSchoolsexamination.ItincludesvocabularyfromtheCouncilofEurope'sThreshold(1990)specificationandothervocabularywhichcorpusevidenceshowsishighfrequency.ThelistcoversvocabularyappropriatetotheB1levelontheCommonEuropeanFrameworkofReference(CEFR)andincludesreceptivevocabulary(wo

4、rdsthatthecandidateisexpectedtounderstandbutwhichisnotthefocusofaquestion)andproductivevocabulary(wordsthatthecandidateneedstoknowtoansweraquestion).ThelistdoesnotprovideanexhaustivelistofallwordswhichappearonthePreliminaryandPreliminaryforSchoolsquestionpapersandcandidatesshouldnotconfinetheir

5、studyofvocabularytothelistalone.HowthelistisupdatedThevocabularyofEnglishchangesovertime,withwordsbeingaddedandotherwordsfallingintodisuse.Inordertomaintainitscurrency,thePreliminaryandPreliminaryforSchoolsVocabularyListisupdatedonanannualbasis,withthedecisiontoaddorremovewordsbeinginformedbyre

6、ferencetotheCambridgeLearnerCorpusandEnglishProfileWordlists.TheCambridgeLearnerCorpusisacollectionofover44millionwordsofEnglish,baseduponevidenceoflanguageusebylearnersfromallovertheworldandfromwhichtheEnglishVocabularyProfilehasdeveloped.TheEnglishVocabularyProfileshowsthemostcommonwordsandph
