5、dintriguinglanguagecontactsituationsintheEnglishspeakingworld.Itinvolvescontactbetweentwogeneticallyrelated,buttypologicallyfairlydistantlanguages–IrishandEnglish…”IfwethinkaboutothervarietiesofEnglish,suchasAmericanorAustralianEnglish,wehavetorealizethatnoneofthemwasinfluencedbyanyof

6、thenativelanguagesofthecountriesasinthecaseofIrishEnglish.NowadaysIrishEnglishrepresentstwolanguageswhichhavebeencoexistingnexttwoeachotherforcenturies.DuringthistimeEnglishoftheIrishadoptedmanyfeaturesofthenativesandthisistheareaofmyinterest.ThethesisdealswithsomepeculiaritiesofIrish
