5、caleoperation,rurallabortransferandpeasantincomeenhancement.However,suchstudiesrarelyinvolveland’simpactonchangesinthehierarchicalstructureofcurrentruralChina.ChenChengwenandLuoZhongyong(2006)focusondissectingtheoverallruralstructureandexaminingtheroleoflandtransferinreconstructingtheruralsocialstr
6、ucture.Somescholarsarguethatderegulatingthetransferoflandwillleadtopolarizationamongthepeasantry(WenTiejun,2008;LiChangping,2008),butsuchanargumentismerelyamacrojudgmentwithoutfactualsupportatthemicrolevel.Chinaisahugecountrywithunevendevelopmentinruralareas;peasantstratificationisanythingbutastran
7、gephenomenon.Therefore,weshallpaymoreattentiontoobservingthestratificationofthepeasantryatthemicrolevel.InclassicalMarxisttheory,theinstitutionalconditionsoflandareanimportantbasisofclassandstratification.I
