3、,ustfollouchofthelastcentury,America'sfaithinfreedomanddemocracyanynations.Ourdemocraticfaithismorethanthecreedofourcountry,itistheinbornhopeofourhumanity,anidealanyofourcitizensprosper,othersdoubtthepromise,eventhejustice,ofourobitionsofsomeAmericansarelimitedbyfa
4、ilingschoolsandhiddenprejudiceandthecircumstancesoftheirbirth.Andsometimesourdifferencesrunsodeep,itseemsysolemnpledge:Iage.Andericahasneverbeenunitedbybloodorbirthorsoil.oveusbeyondourbackgrounds,liftusaboveourinterestsandteachuseanstobecitizens.Everychildmustbetau
5、ghttheseprinciples.Everycitizenmustupholdthem.Andeveryimmigrant,byembracingtheseideals,makesourcountrymore,notless,American.Today,aneitmenttoliveoutournation'spromisethroughcivility,courage,passionandcharacter.America,atitsbest,matchesamitmenttoprincipleandsfromeac
6、hofusgoodwillandrespect,fairdealingandforgiveness.Someseemtobelievethatourpoliticscanaffordtobepettybecause,inatimeofpeace,thestakesofourdebatesappearsmall.ButthestakesforAmericaareneversmall.Ifourcountrydoesnotleadthecauseoffreedom,itinetheiridealism.Ifitoureconomy
