6、henthestressesneartheboundaryofanexcavationexceedtherockmassstrength,andfailureproceedsinanunstableorviolentmanner.Thestressesgenerallyincreaseasaresultofnearbymining.Inaddition,therockmassstrengthmaydegradewithtimeorwithlossofconfinement,leadingtosuddenfailure.Ineithercasetherockmassstrength-t
