2、rmationandElectricalEngineering,ChinaAgricultureUniversity,Beijing100083,ChinaAbstract:Light-useefficiency(LUE)isacriticalparameterinmanyprimaryproductionmodelsforestimatingecosystemcarbonexchange.Theapplicationofthesemodelsonregionalandglobalscaleisrestrictedbecauseofthedifficulty

3、ofretrievingLUEfromairborneandsatelliteremotesensingimages.Vegetationchlorophyllfluorescenceisadirectindicatorofplantphysi-ology.Inthispaper,adiurnalexperimentwascarriedonmaizeonJuly5,2008.Thecanopyradiancespectraandtower-basedfluxdatawereacquiredsynchronouslytotestthepossibilityof

4、retrievingLUEbythesolar-inducedvegetationChlFsignals.Thecanopynetprimaryproduction(NEP)valueswerecalculatedusingeddycovariancemeasurementbyaCSAT3-Li7500Fluxsystem,andthegrossprimaryproduction(GPP)wasalsocalculatedbyaddingthesimulateddaytimerespiration.TwokindsofLUEbasedonGPP(LUEGPP

5、)andNEP(LUENEP)weredefinedbydividingtheabsorbedphotosyntheticactiveradiation(APAR). TheChlFsignalsat760nmand688nmwerealsoseparatedfromthereflectedradiancespectrabasedonFraunhoferlinedepthalgorithminthetwooxygenabsorptionbands.TheChlFsignalswerestronglycorrelatedwithphotosyntheticac

6、tiveradiation (PAR),especiallytheChlFat760nm(R2>0.99).BothNEPandGPPhadasignificantcorrelationwithChlF.Furthermore, LUEGPPwasnegativelycorrelatedwiththeChlF’srelativeintensityat688nmand760nm,withacorrelationcoefficientR2of 0.6331and0.7861respectively.Moreover,theLUEmodelsbasedonthes
