4、seofsuchdevicesdoesnotreadilylenditselftoautomationtechniques.Itisknownthatthedistancebetweentwopointscanbedeterminedbymeasuringthepropagationtimeofawavetravellingbetweenthosetwopoints.Onesuchtypeofwaveisanultrasonic,oracoustic,wave.Whenanultrasonicwavetravelsbetweentwopoints,thedistancebetw
5、eenthetwopointscanbemeasuredbymultiplyingthetransittimeofthewavebythewavevelocityinthemediumseparatingthetwopoints.Itisthereforeanobjectofthepresentinventiontoprovideapparatusutilizingultrasonicwavestoaccuratelymeasurethedistancebetweentwopoints.Whenthemediumbetweenthetwopointswhosespacingis
