4、ybevariouslyinterpreted.Thesestudiesarefrequentlysitespecificandareinfluencedbygeologicalandgeographicalsettings,bythepurposeofthesitecharacterization,bydesignrequirementsfortheprojectproposed,andbythebackground,training,andexperienceofthestaffinvolved.Thisdocumentisaguidetotheselect
5、ionofthevariousASTMstandardsthatareavailablefortheexplorationofsoil,rock,andgroundwaterforprojectsthatinvolvesurfaceand/orsubsurfaceconstruction,orboth.Itisintendedtoimproveconsistencyofpracticeandtoencouragerationalplanningofasitecharacterizationprogram.Sincethesubsurfacecondition
