5、nterestontheloans.Theirprofitsarederivedfromthespreadbetweentheratetheypayforfundsandtheratetheyreceivefromborrowers.Thisabilitytopooldepositsfrommanysourcesthatcanbelenttomanydifferentborrowerscreatestheflowoffundsinherentinthebankingsystem.Bymanagingthisflowoffunds,banksgenerateprofits,actinga

6、stheintermediaryofinterestpaidandinterestreceivedandtakingontherisksofofferingcredit.2.Small-scaleanalysisBankingisahighlyleveragedbusinessrequiringregulatorstodictateminimalcapitallevelstohelpensurethesolvencyofeachbankandthebankingsystem.IntheUS,abank’sprimaryregulatorcouldbetheFederalReserveB
