3、alChinaandturnitintoademocraticandstrongnation.Atfirst,hehadillusionsabouttheQinggovernmentandhopedtosavethismoribundregimetroughreforms.But,China’sdefeatsbyforeigninvadersandthecorruptionandincompetenceoftheQinggovernmentintensifiedhispatrioticindignation.HedecidedthattheQingcourtwasrottent
4、othecoreandmustbeoverthrownandreplacedbyademocraticrepublic.So,in1894,togetherwithsometwentyChineseshop-keeperandfarm-ownersinHonolulu,heestablishedthefirstChinesebourgeoisrevolutionaryorganization-theSocietyfortheRevivalofChina(theXingZhongHui).Inthefollowingspring,hereturnedtoHongKongandst
5、agedthefirstarmeduprisingagainsttheQingDynastyinGuangzhou;butitendedinfailure.Then,in1905,hewenttoJapan,wherehefoundedChina’sfirstpoliticalpartycalledpartycalled“ChinaRevolutionaryLeague”(theTongMengHui),whichlaterdevelopedintotheNationalistParty(theGuomintang).Sincethenhehadmadesuccessiveat
6、temptstotoppletheQingregimeandfinallysucceededintheWuchangUprisingthatbrokeoutinOctober1911.TheQingregimewasoverthrownandhewaselectedtheprovisionalpresidentoftheinterimgovernmentoftheRepublicofChinainNanjing.Thispoliticalpower,however,wassoontakenoverbythewarlords.Thenin1920,SunYat-Sencameba
