3、wasmuchbetterforEmilyandhersiblings.In1824Mr.Brontesenthisfoureldestdaughters一Elizabeth,Maria,Charlotte,andEmily一toboardingschool.Whileatschool,theywerefrequentlycoldandundernourished,andMariaandElizabethcontractedtuberculosis.Soonafterbeingsenthometorecuperate,theydied.Alarmed,Mr.Bronteb

4、roughtCharlotteandEmilyhometobeeducated.Haworthwasarelativelyisolatedcommunity,andsotheBrontechildrenturnedtooneanotherforamusementandcompanionship.In1826Mr.Brontebroughthomesomewoodensoldiers,and25theseweretobethefoundationofthecreationofacomplicatedfantasyworld,whichtheBrontesactivelywo

5、rkedon.Theybegantowriteaboutanimaginaryworldtheyhadcreated.Toescapetheirunhappychildhood,Anne,Emily,CharlotteandtheirbrotherBranwell,intheirisolatedchildhoodonthemoors,developedanextremelycloserelationshippartlybasedontheirmutualparticipationinagameofmake-believe.EmilyandAnnecreatedtheiro

6、wnGondalsagawhichsetinthePacificOcean.Thefirstoftheirdiarynotes,writteninNovember1834,givesthefirstmentionofGondal.TheycontinuedwritingproseandpoemsaboutGondaluntiltheendoftheirlives.BranwellandCharlotterecordedtheirstoriesaboutthekingdomofAnglia(LatinwordforEngland)insmallnotebooks.Thech

7、ildrenbeganwritingstoriesaboutthem.Theymadetinybookscontainingstories,plays,histories,andpoetrywrittenbytheirimaginedheroesandheroines.Noneoftheprosehassurvived,andthepoetry,theearliestofwhichdatesto1836,isdifficulttointerpret.Variouseffortshavebeenmadetofitthepoems
