2、).Theinformationgivenhereisbasedonprivatecommunicationbetweentheauthor(S.GunnarSandberg)andSearlandshouldbeconsideredpreliminaryasfurtherresearchanddevelopmentmaygivereasontoalterand/orupdatethecontent.TheGyro-CellTheSEGconsistsofabasicdriveunitcalle

3、dtheGyro-Cell(GC)and,dependingontheapplication,iseitherfittedwithcoilsforgenerationofelectricityorwithashaftfortransferofmechanicalpower.TheGCcanalsobeusedasahighvoltagesource.AnotherandimportantqualityoftheGCisitsabilitytolevitate.TheGCcanbeconsider

4、edasanelectricmotorentirelyconsistingofpermanentmagnetsintheshapeofcylindricalbarsandannularrings.Fig.1showsthebasicGCinitssimplestform,consistingofonestationaryannularring-shapedmagnetcalledtheplate,andanumberofmovingcylinder-shapedrodscalledrunners

5、.Duringoperationeachrunnerisspinningaboutitsaxisandissimultaneouslyorbitingtheplateinsuchamannerthatafixedpointponthecurvedrunnersurfacetracesoutawholenumberofcycloidsduringonerevolutionroundtheplate,asshownbythedottedlinesinfig.2.Measurementshaverev

6、ealedthatanelectricpotentialdifferenceisprodecedintheradialdirectionbetweenplateandrunners;theplatebeingpositivelychargedandtherunnersnegativelycharged,asshowninfig.1.Inprinciple,nomechanicalconstraintsareneededtokeeptheGCtogethersincetherunnersareel

7、ectromagneticallycoupledtotheplate.However,usedasatorqueproducingdevice,shaftandcasingmustbefittedtotransferthepowerproduced.Furthermore,inapplicationswherethegeneratorismountedinsideaframework,therunnersshouldbemadeshorterthantheheightoftheplatetopr

8、eventtherunnersfromcatchingtheframeorotherparts.Wheninoperation,gapsarecreatedbyelectromagneticinteractionandcentrifugalforcespreventingmechanicalandgalvaniccontactbetweenplateandrunnersandtherebyreducingthefrictiontonegligiblevalues.Theexperimentssh
