1、DefiningthesurfacesectionSectionoutputrequestsareavailableonlyforsectionsdefinedusingelement-basedsurfaces(see“Element-basedsurfacedefinition,”Section2.3.2).Consequently,thesectionsmustbedefinedusingfacesofcontinuumelementsalthoughothertypesofelements(beams,memb
2、ranes,shells,springs,dashpots,etc.)canbeattachedtothesection.Calculationofaccumulatedquantitiesonthesection(suchasthetotalforce)involvesnodalquantitiesassociatedwithelementsononesideofthesectiononly.Therefore,thesurfacedefinitionshoulduseelementsonlyfromonesideo
3、fthesection(the“baseelements,”asdefinedin“Prescribedassemblyloads,”Section32.5.1),thuspreciselyidentifyingthesidefromwhichaccumulatedquantitiesarecomputed.Sincethesectionusuallycutsthroughthemeshinatypicalsectionoutputrequest,automaticgenerationofthesurfacecanno
4、tbeused.Specifyingtheelementfacesgivesexactcontroloverwhichelementfacesformthesurface,whichisessentialwhendefiningacross-sectionthroughasolidbody.Youmustspecifythenameofthesurfaceforwhichoutputisbeingrequested.Surfacesthataredefinedinarestartanalysiscanbeusedonl
