2、htmethatoneshouldneverstoplearning,andthatthemoreyoulearn,themoreyougrowasaperson.WhenIfirstheardthis,Ididn’tcompletelyacceptthisidea.IttookawhileformetounderstandthatwhateverIhaveachievedacademically,andwhatevergrowthIhaveexperiencedasapersonwasthedirectresult
3、ofthegreatteacherswhoIhavehadoverthepast10years. Thankstotheeffortsofmysecondandthirdgradeteachers,inthefourthgradeIwasplacedinmyschool’s“TalentedandGifted”(TAG)program.Whilesomeofthestudentsinmyschoolreferredtoourclassasthe“nerds(书呆子)”,Ifelthonoredandproudtob
4、erecognizedasatalentedandgiftedstudent. TheexpectationsforusintheTAGprogramwereextraordinary,andwewerepusheddailytohigherandhigherlevelsofachievement.The“enforcer”ofthehighstandardsestablishedforTAGstudentswasMs.Bruen.Tosayshewasstrictisanunderstatement.Shedid
5、nottoleratetardiness(缓慢),indifference,lazinessorcarelessness.Minorinfractions(违犯)werenotconsideredacceptabletoMs.Bruen.SherebukedmeonnumerousoccasionsforwhatIconsideredminorerrors,particularlyingrammarandmath.Beinglatewithanassignmentwasanautomaticfailinggrade,
